The older girls had already moved to the new building at Los Pinos, a small community outside Jalapa. They were treated to much better facilities although there were still over 20 girls to a room. Transportation was and remains an issue. In order to get to town for school (for the secondary students) or to shop, attend church, etc., the girls have a 45 minute walk. Not too dificult for part of the year but in rainy season, not so much fun.
