This is a building adjacent to the living quarters intended to provide some training for the girls. The funding for the construction and equipment was provided by a generous couple from Spain, but unfortunately, they didn't provide any operating funds.
Notice the "playground equipment" on the concrete slab. Does anyone think this is good planning? This has now been replaced with far better equipment through the generosity of the Wells of Hope.
This proved very successful, enabling the girls to research school projects and assignments without having to go to Jalapa to an internet cafe. In fact, when we told the sisters in charge that we would be sending more funds to expand the library, they said please, no more books but if possible, can we have another internet connection. We did both.
There is also a classroom for training as a beautician. We were instrumental in funding the supplies and helping pay the teacher's salary for the first class of girls to use this opportunity. 6 or 8 girls took this training and became qualified hair dressers and left the home with some hope of making a life for themselves.
